AJAX Alarm System Review: AJAX MultiTransmitter Review / Turn Your Whole Wired Alarm Into Wireless

Ajax Systems want to take over the market share of wired alarm systems manufacturers, but in a good way I suppose, the customer-focused way. It’s got completely obvious when we got our hands on the new Ajax MultiTransmitter, and the good thing here is that they came up with how to convert you retro, mounted a decades ago wired alarm system into the wireless one with no replacements and demolitions. You may saw that happened earlier in the intercoms and door phones marketm and it went, so why don’t replicate it with alarm systems? My name’s Daniel, Pipl Systems Store.

The Operating Principle

Speaking graphically:

Your wired main control unit is replaced with the Ajax MultiTransmitter. All the wiring goes right there too, just look at this rear part, you know why all these holes are here right?

In my opinion, it is incredible – Ajax claim that those wired sensors become a full-fledged part of the Ajax alarm system. Now on the following graphics you can see that not only the sensors are implanted into the system – they are able to communicate with original Ajax devices and make them execute actions and algorithms, because on the graphics you can see that a third-party infrared barrier sends a signal to the Ajax Hub through the MultiTransmitter. And Ajax Hub, in its turn, actuates the Ajax Outdoor Siren that really hurts your ears, and turns on third-party floodlights. Visual and sound alarm, but executed with 3rd-party sensors

Body Features / Disassembling

Ajax MultiTransmitter looks Tesla cyber-truck inspired, but in combine with the Ajax Systems recognizable style – futuristic and smooth, matte finish front and back with glossy sides. And this is thick plastic, that feels really solid and no matter how hard I was pushing on it – I didn’t see any curves and was unable to bend it any way. And I am emphasizing this because Ajax say it features a sabotage-proof body. On the whole, the design and composition are not complex as you can see.

If we get inside – we get the access to the device itself– it’s the board, which is easily removable. And there we also see other parts that come within the box – power cable, the one you will get within your box depends on your country standard, a hexagon-socket screws along with hex fastener. And through 2 lines there you transmit the power from the 7 AMP hour backup battery, like this one on the image, that you have to get additionally.

The Board

The board is beautiful, look at these masterpiece:

On the board’ rear part you’ll find 2 Tamper buttons, 100-240VAC in, power supply unit, two lines for battery, LED for status, power button and the QR-code to activate the device in the Ajax Phone App, and you also got one more on the back of the body. Now the terminals.

Power supply terminals for fire detectors on the left, the ground, 12V power out, and on the right there are 18 terminals for connecting 18 wired detectors or zones – Z1, Z2 and up to Z18 are the inputs for wired detectors. Then we have the “COM”, that stands for a common input for connecting power supply circuits and signal contacts of wired detectors. And plus we’ve got here two 12V power outs for wired detectors

Technically / Numbers

Technically, you can get here 18 wired detectors, which is a great number. The supported detector contact types are:

  • NO;
    NC (without R);
    EOL (NC with R);
    EOL (NO with R);

The maximum radio signal transmission range is 2000 m. away from the Ajax hub, in open space though.

Why and how do we benefit from this move?

  • Wireless alarm systems are way easier to install then wired ones and way faster. You don’t need to conduct the wiring all around your house
  • The design – I hope you agree with me on that it looks both neutral, futuristic and aesthetic.
  • The false alarms rate has decreased greatly after such wireless systems moved to 868 mhz. frequency. Ajax alarm system has anti-jamming detection and anti-masking technology, plus the wires will never be torn, as there are no wires here, and no one can cut them.
  • Also, it is way easier and comfortable to extend your system with wireless transmission type. Again, you don’t need to conduct the wiring all over your house.
  • With Ajax MultiTransmitter you can specify the type of alarm and a room for each wired device. This makes notifications more informative — you know not just what happened but where.
  • This information is displayed using push notification, SMS, and is also sent to the alarm receiving center under an appropriate code. A total of 5 types of alarms are available to work with here: intrusion, fire, medical assistance, panic button, gas alarm.
