Good afternoon. I am John Vossoughi, Vice President of Sales at Lumana. We are here at our new double-decker booth at ISC West 2026, where the energy is incredible. The biggest news of the show is that Lumana has officially taken home the SIA New Products & Solutions award for "Best in Video Surveillance Management Systems." This recognition validates our mission to provide an enterprise-class video intelligence system that uses AI agents to monitor your environment, investigate incidents, and act in real time.
Lumana Platform Overview & Five Core Principles
What truly makes Lumana unique in a crowded market are our five fundamental principles:
- Complete Open System: We want our customers to use the best-of-breed hardware for their environment. Whether it is the highest-quality cameras, specialized sensors, or advanced access control, we integrate with all of them.
- Hybrid Cloud Architecture: We deliver the best of both worlds - the high performance of an on-premise system combined with the convenience and global scalability of the cloud.
- Secure by Design: Security is at our core. The Lumana system is fully secure both at rest and in transit.
- Industry-Leading Ease of Use: We provide a "single pane of glass" experience. No matter how many locations you manage, everything is accessible from one unified interface.
- Constantly Learning System: This is our biggest differentiator. We utilize adaptive AI at a camera-specific level. The system is always learning, meaning the platform you buy today will only get smarter and more effective over time.
Unified Interface & Multi-Site Live Monitoring
Our homepage is designed for maximum operational awareness. On the left, you have a clean navigation menu, and in the middle, you see your locations. If you manage a hundred different sites, you see them all here. By clicking into a location, you immediately access the cameras.
Our live view is incredibly responsive; you can hover over any camera to get an instant live stream of that environment. If you need a closer look, a single click opens the full view, where you can immediately see objects, active alerts, and even the real-time health of that specific camera.
Channel-Centric Design, Maps & Device Health
We are a very channel-centric business, and every feature we develop is focused on how security installers & integrators can easily deploy and manage the system. We offer multiple ways to visualize your hardware, including interactive maps and floor plans.
Our device-level view is critical for maintenance; you can see the health of every device at a specific core level, allowing you to troubleshoot or configure any IP camera directly from the Lumana dashboard. This isn't restricted to proprietary hardware - Lumana works with any standard IP camera.
Beyond just video, we integrate with third-party devices such as speakers, sensors, and access control. When looking at a camera feed, you can see these integrations built-in. For example, right from the video interface, an operator can open or close a door or use a talk-down speaker to communicate with someone on-site.
AI-Powered Video Search: Text & Attribute Queries
Where our AI truly shines is in search. We offer two primary ways to find what you need. First is our Natural Language Search. You can simply type a query like "man using a cell phone," and the system will instantly filter through days of footage across all cameras to find those specific moments.
The second method is our traditional Attribute Search, which is like finding a needle in a haystack. In a real-world scenario, searching through 18,000 hours of video, I can filter for a man wearing a hat and glasses, standing next to a white Tesla with "89" in the license plate. The system narrows down over 588,000 results to just two in under 10 seconds. From there, you can "follow" that person or vehicle across the entire organization, tracking their exact path from the moment they entered to the moment they left.
If you need to share this evidence, you can create a secure archive link with specific permissions. You can even send this link via SMS; the recipient doesn't need a special app to view it, which is a major advantage for enterprise-class collaboration.
Smart Alerts, Zone Protection & Automated Responses
Lumana offers hundreds of different alert types out of the box, covering security, tracking, camera status, and safety compliance. Setting up a Zone Protection Alert is simple: you name the alert, select the objects (like a person), and draw a zone on the camera feed.
You can set the system to trigger only if someone lingers in that zone for more than a minute. The actions are fully customizable - you can send the alert to a SOC, notify an administrator, or automatically play a pre-recorded message on a local speaker.
Dashboards, Safety Analytics & Closing Remarks
All these analytics come together in our beautiful dashboards. Occupancy analytics are becoming very popular, allowing businesses to see exactly how many people are in their environment by the hour. We also feature high-level safety alerts like gun brandishing, violence and fighting detection, smoke detection, and fall detection.
In industrial settings, we even track proximity to dangerous areas. For example, our system can alert if a worker gets too close to a burning fire or mechanical equipment without a safety helmet. These real-world safety applications, including PPE detection, help companies reduce risk and protect their staff. It is important to note that everything we do is permission-based. Lumana does not have access to customer data unless explicitly invited by the user.
Lumana allows you to monitor, investigate, and act in real time like no one else in the industry today. If you have questions or want to see how we can transform your security, visit our website or contact our team.
Partner Perspective: Practical AI for Real Environments
Oleg Bordiian, Founder of Pipl Systems, shared his perspective on why Lumana stood out at the show:
"At ISC Security Events ISC West 2026, our Pipl Systems team stopped by the Lumana booth to better understand what’s behind their recognition from Security Industry Association (SIA), where they received the award for Best Video Surveillance Management System. We recorded a full walkthrough together with John Vossoughi, who explains how the platform works in a real environment. What stood out to me is how naturally they combine hybrid cloud architecture, AI at the camera level, and a clean interface that actually feels practical for day-to-day use."
"The demo focuses on real functionality, not just concepts. Natural language search across video, smart alerts like PPE detection and zone protection, and how everything connects with access control and audio systems. If you work with VMS platforms or are just curious where the security industry is heading, this is worth a look."

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Yes. Lumana is a completely open platform designed for security installers & integrators. It can configuration and manage almost any third-party IP camera, allowing you to use the best hardware for your specific environment while managing it through a "single pane of glass" interface.
3. How does the Natural Language Search work?
Lumana’s natural language search allows you to find video clips by typing simple text descriptions, such as "a person carrying a blue backpack" or "a man on a cell phone." The AI filters through hundreds of thousands of objects in seconds, drastically reducing investigation time compared to traditional IP camera monitoring software.
4. What types of "Smart Alerts" does Lumana offer out of the box?
Lumana includes hundreds of pre-configured alerts, including zone protection, PPE (helmet/vest) detection, weapon brandishing, fall detection, and violence detection. These are part of our core security video analytics software and do not require additional per-feature licensing.
5. Is my data secure in the Lumana cloud?
Absolutely. Lumana uses a hybrid-cloud architecture that is secure by design. Data is encrypted both at rest and in transit. Furthermore, Lumana employees have zero access to customer video data unless explicitly invited by the customer for support purposes.
6. Can I control access control and audio through the VMS?
Yes. Lumana provides a unified interface where you can integrate access control and speakers. Operators can lock/unlock doors or initiate two-way talk-down audio directly from the live video feed, allowing them to monitor and act in real time.
